With the 2022 revision, there are finally enough reasons to pick the Apple TV 4K over the pack, even if it’s still pricier than the competition. Apple’s A15 Bionic chip, a USB-C port on the remote, and decent gaming performance make this a worthy addition to any living room, and one that will likely outlast the clunky OS inside your smart TV.

If you already bought last year's Apple TV 4K for its new Siri remote, this new box probably isn't worth the upgrade. But if you picked up an HDR10+ TV recently, it may be worth the step up, just so you're seeing the best HDR picture possible.

The 2022 Apple TV 4K is a small year-on-year upgrade that nonetheless manages to make the fruity set-top box that little bit more appealing - largely thanks to a cheaper price. You'll still pay more for a new Apple TV 4K than most other streaming devices, but it's novel to see a manufacturer cut prices in a year where everything else has been getting more expensive.

The Apple TV 4K is definitely worth it for those who'll enjoy more of those features that go beyond everyday streaming, like smart home control and immersive home theater. And it increases image quality to a noticeable extent, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an upgrade over their current streaming device's video.
